Did you know that almost 3/4 of 70 year old women will live at least another ten years?
That’s why so many are looking at a home staging career for seniors.
Not all Staging Diva Grads tell me their age, but I know of at least 6 off the top of my head who took the Staging Diva Home Staging Training Program in their 70s.
As far as I know, Jean Smith of Staging For Sellers (Florida) was the oldest when she started.
And why not?
At 76 she’s still relatively healthy and wants to use her creative talents to further her retirement income and help others in her community.
Home staging is her perfect new career because she only has to work as much or as little as she wants to. And, when following my business model, Jean doesn’t have to do any physical labor.
I believe the role of a home stager is to be the creative visionary and project manager.
Cleaning, painting, moving furniture are all left to people who make less than home stagers do. Besides, we can also make a commission on their services. That’s a source of passive income that I discuss in more detail in course 5 of my program, called “Over 30 More Ways to Make Money in Home Staging.”
Within weeks of completing my home staging courses, Jean already had two real estate staging projects.
She writes:
“It was so easy! In the past I would have felt guilty being paid for my advice! But with the Staging Diva courses I now know how to explain my fee and realize that I’m providing a valuable service to help homeowners.”
At age 76, Jean created a whole new home staging business in the Florida retirement community of The Villages.
Naturally a home that shows well will sell more quickly and for a higher price than the properties that don’t, and Jean will be there to help them!
One of her typical projects included staging a manufactured home for a woman who had inherited it from her mother.
Before it went on the market, Jean transformed the property into a “show home” with new furniture, paint and cleaning.
My mission is to inspire and empower others with new possibilities for their life. I’m so proud of Jean for what she’s created for herself at an age when many wouldn’t try to build a new dream.
New Home Staging Career for Seniors
When aspiring home stagers call me asking if it’s too late to follow their dreams, I always tell them about Jean. Chances are the person I’m talking to has anywhere from to 15 to 30 years before they catch up to Jean 🙂
Who knows how long Jean will be staging homes. If she can have some fun and make some money for a few years (or as long as she feels like doing it), why not?
My aunt is 95, lives on her own and takes one college course per semester to keep her mind active.
We’re living longer which also means we have to worry more about outliving our savings. That’s why so many baby boomers are turning to a home staging career.
