“Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.” Harriet Beecher Stowe
I remember speaking with a home stager, years ago, who was frustrated that her one year old business wasn’t very successful so she planned to give up on her dream and close her doors. I wanted to know how hard she’d been trying to promote her business so I asked her if she had a website – she didn’t. I asked her how someone who needed her services could find her.
She thought for a minute before telling me that there was no way that someone could find her if they were looking for a home stager.
Imagine someone willing to give up on their dream for such a reason!
You don’t know what sort of success is waiting for you and you’ll never know if you give up entirely. You owe it to yourself to keep going. If your home staging business is not as successful as you hoped it would be by now, I encourage you to visit the Staging Diva Store and see if there’s a product or service that can help you.

You bet! A website – or a listing on your directory is a MUST! If you don’t know how to maximize a website or get it to the top, you need to link up with someone who is (on top).
When I started, I remember laying in bed thinking, “why is no one calling me for home staging?” But as I thought about it, I realized that it was pretty hard for someone to find me if they didn’t run into me! Since then, I’ve worked hard to optimize my website; I network online such as Twitter, Facebook, Active Rain and more. I also make it a point to join a few groups locally and get to know realtors and investors face-to-face.
Is this what I signed up for? Not really, but it’s been an eye-opening experience for me. I thought I could just do what I love – decorate, create, stage homes…but first people have to know you’re out there. I’d say about 85% of being in business is marketing yourself and the rest is staging, paperwork and behind the scenes stuff.
Ah, if I could only just go from house to house and “create!” It would be lovely!
