Home staging or real estate staging is a very inexpensive business to start— if you do it right!
You can get your staging business started for under a $1000.
You go out to your clients, so where or how you live doesn’t matter. You also don’t need a storefront.
Some people make the mistake of jumping in and shopping for all kinds of inventory. It’s tempting to buy bedding, vases, accent pillows, art and other accessories. One home stager I coached had gone out and bought 7 homes worth of furniture (she called me to find out how she could avoid going bankrupt when all the “don’t pay until 2006” deals came due!).
I’ve staged hudreds of homes and I don’t have my own inventory!
You also don’t need to spend much in advertising. In fact I’ve never placed a print ad or distributed a flyer in all my years in business. That’s not where the smart marketing dollars are spent!
Everything you need to get started in your home staging business is explained in detail in Staging Diva Course 2 “The Business of Home Staging: What you Need to Start and How To Grow.”
In Course 4 “Staging Diva Sales & Marketing Secrets,” I share how I built my home staging business, Six Elements Inc., on a shoe string! I’ve got an MBA in marketing and over 25 years experience in the subject. But, perhaps most relevant to anyone wanting to build a staging business, I have the first-hand experience of using clever, low-cost, marketing to build my own home staging business. I’ve proven that my techniques work in the real world.
