When I first started my home staging website in 2002, there were no social media sites like Facebook and Twitter and there was no such thing as a home staging blog.
Back then you could put up a fairly static website. It was still important to keep it fresh by adding new pages to keep Google happy, but there wasn’t this pressure to come up with new content week after week the way there is now.
This week’s home staging business dilemma comes from Loi, who asks:
“Is it advisable to use the same content for Facebook and Active Rain or Blogspot at the same time? Just thought it might be easier to track whether content has been used already and maximize it at the same time.”
Home stagers, please share your own thoughts and experiences on this topic by commenting below. I’ll pick the best and add mine and write a follow up post of recommendations for all of you!

Loi – from my experiences, it all depends on whether the content is relevant to the audiences of each site you post onto. If it is – I don’t hesitate to do so. Less time consuming and more likely to get “picked up”.

This is a good question. I look forward to the answer. I have been told that if you use the same content in multiple locations it is actually bad, google doesn’t like it. I don’t know if this is true but I would love to know.

That is a million dollar question. What I have heard is that it is ok to do it as long as you link back to the original article. I can’t wait to hear what Debra thinks…she is a google master!

As Julie said if it’s relevant than post it. Posting what is essentially the same content in multiple places is a good idea because people are partial to different resources. Some live on Facebook, others on Active Rain, you need to be where they are to be found.

Chris totally agree with your excellent point that some people are “partial to different sources.” In other words, we want to be where our potential customers are, rather than making it hard for them to find us.
That said, duplicate content IS a real concern. Check out my follow up recommendations at:
